Scarf has published a new impact report highlighting the success of the Scarf Fuel Fund, which supported 5,991 households across Scotland last year.

Over the course of the project, more than £953,000 was distributed through fuel vouchers, helping households experiencing financial hardship maintain access to essential energy supplies. In total, 19,316 vouchers were redeemed through the fund.

The project was delivered in partnership with more than 40 organisations across Scotland, helping to identify vulnerable households and connect them with support quickly and effectively.

Alongside emergency financial assistance, the fund acted as a gateway to wider support services. Thousands of households were referred for additional help, including energy advice, financial support, and health and wellbeing services, helping address the wider challenges often associated with fuel poverty.

Lawrence Johnston, Co-CEO at Scarf, said:

“The Scarf Fuel Fund highlights the difference that can be made when organisations work together to support people facing financial hardship. The vouchers provide immediate relief for households struggling with energy costs, but the project went beyond emergency support. Through strong partnerships and trusted local delivery, we were able to connect thousands of people with wider services that improve their circumstances over the longer term.

The scale of demand seen throughout the project shows the ongoing challenges many households continue to face. We’re incredibly grateful to our partners, advisers and everyone involved in making this support available across Scotland.”
