We were delighted to take a top prize at the coveted Northern Star Business Awards (NSBA), winning the Commitment to People Development award.

The award, sponsored by Maersk Training, rewards our commitment and investment in supporting its staff to develop their skills to fulfil current and future job roles.

Thane Lawrie, Chief Executive at Scarf, said:

“We are ecstatic with the win as it serves as recognition for the dedication of the company to support an ambitious staff.

“Credit can go to everyone at Scarf, whose efforts have built a development framework that is bespoke to the company and designed to get the most from our talented team.”

Scarf tasked its staff to create their own, unique personal and professional development programme (Aspire) that has been rolled out across the company.

As well as the award, Scarf’s efforts have been acknowledged with Investors in People re-accreditation and Investors in Young People accreditation for the first time.

The company offers staff industry-recognised qualifications, further learning and personal support throughout their time at the company to the benefit of their development.

Considerable resources are invested to sustain the approach as Scarf aims to make every member of staff feel valued and able to make a telling contribution to the growth of the company.

Scarf was also shortlisted for the Green Award, won by Deeside Activity Park.

Thane added:

“While we are naturally disappointed at missing out on a second award, we offer sincere congratulations to Deeside Activity Park as worthy winners.”
